Coworking has caught the attention of many over the past few years as it provides new opportunities to groups of people including entrepreneurs and start ups — offering them a place to conduct business in a cost effective and socially valuable way.

Lisa Gangsky is the author of “The Mesh : Why the Future of Business is Sharing”. Lisa has identified a new idea in the way to do business and she’s calling it the Mesh. Mesh is “the living network of sharing”, where companies can post their business on a network, which is conveniently accessible by other companies, and has become the best new creative search engine for a company’s business needs.

On Sept 28th, Bill Jacobson, co-founder of WorkBar, will join a panel of other innovative experts to discuss this concept of “sharing” as described by Lisa.  The panel will talk about a world “where access trumps ownership” and the ways in which they, respectively, are contributing to this new shift in the work world.

For Entrepreneurs: Starting a Shared Office Space Business

My partner, David Ulrich and I had been researching co-working spaces both nationally and internationally for some time. We also saw that while modern telecommunications have made it possible for many people to work from anywhere, people are stuck with either working out of a traditional lease office, their home or café’s for limited time periods. We felt there must be a better way and as people get more and more mobile this trend will continue.

Sharing their thoughts on WorkBar with the world

WorkBar Boston is a a CoWorking space is a collaboration between the operator of the space, and two independent workers who subleased from their space’s former occupant. When the suite was going vacant they approached the owner to vest in the idea of turning the space over into a CoWorking site – successfully. A great strategy I think some others may be able to use.
