Open Office Hours – Small Business Administration

.

Open Office Hours

2:00PM-4:00PM on Nov 4th, 2010

Small Business Administration

Reserve your spot for Open Office Hours with the SBA HERE

.

As your small business resource, today’s SBA initiatives include loans, advice, and government contracts for women, minorities, and veterans. The Administration is structured to offer loans, to back loans from other lenders, and to counsel small business owners with the help of several resource partners. These partners include SCORE -the Service Corps of Retired Executives, Small Business Development Centers, Women’s Business Centers, the Veterans’ Business Outreach Program, and many SBA lenders. Counseling, training programs, and other resources are provided by the SBA in conjunction with these institutions. The open office hours held on the 21st are open to everyone!

Oct 21st is also WorkBar’s free coworking day so feel free to come in and use our workspace, talk to the SBA & meet other Boston startups!

The SBA Team can answer questions & provide info on:

  • Business plans
  • Start up assistance
  • Financing options
  • Business counseling resources
  • Training
  • Government contracting opportunities
  • Disaster assistance
  • Anything regarding starting or running a small business

.

From its inception through the turn of the century, the SBA has provided nearly twenty million loans along with various other forms of help for small business owners. Today, the Administration even offers online classes for small business owners and has at least one office in every state. While some people complain that the SBA is unnecessary, because they believe small companies cannot compete with large corporations, SBA is a thriving program. It is not only the “largest single financial backer” of businesses in this country; it is also one of the government’s most cost efficient agencies.

Small businesses create local jobs, revenue, and exciting innovations brought to life by ambitious entrepreneurs. The Small Business Administration’s three thousand employees and many resource partners are behind them to make sure they are afforded the opportunity to achieve the American dream.

What is the SBA?

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation. We recognize that small business is critical to our economic recovery and strength, to building America’s future, and to helping the United States compete in today’s global marketplace. Although SBA has grown and evolved in the years since it was established in 1953, the bottom line mission remains the same. The SBA helps Americans start, build and grow businesses. Through an extensive network of field offices and partnerships with public and private organizations, SBA delivers its services to people throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the U. S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
