iCreate to Educate

iCreate to Educate supports innovative, hands-on technologies in the K-12 classroom to enhance learning in science, math, and engineering.  Using research-informed educational tools developed at Tufts University, iCreate works with teachers to develop and implement activities that engage students through project-based learning. The first educational tool in the spotlight is SAM Animation, a stop-motion animation software developed specifically for education as a unique way for students to express their ideas and develop understandings in science. MuseTrek is an innovative mobile and Web application enriching the dialogue between cultural sites and their visitors.  MuseTrek uses crowd-sourcing and geo-tagging technology to turn users’ own phones into a cultural recommendation tool linking them with items (artworks, exhibits, conferences, workshops…) and places they will enjoy based on their actions, interests and social connections.

Born at Harvard University, the MuseTrek concept aimed to make cultural places more meaningful to the student founders.  MuseTrek has developed partnerships at leading French cultural institutions such as the Louvre, Cite des Science and the Arts Decorative museums.  Based off of experimentations and iPhone trials at these locations, MuseTrek will soon be beta releasing its mobile participatory guide with with a key cultural places around the world.
