WorkBar Wins Happy Hour w. TaskRabbit!

This week we were joined by TaskRabbit Rockstars Jen & Michael – who are working on TaskRabbit’s re-launch in Boston! We got to see some rabbits in action as they delivered us yummy pizza and healthy snacks to get our happy hour rolling!

What is TaskRabbit you ask?
“TaskRabbit gets you in touch with friendly, reliable people who can help you get just about anything you need done, and put some free time back into your life.”

You’re a busy guy or gal and since you cant always be 10 places at once …there’s a Rabbit to help!

Thanks Jen and Mike!

A snapshot of members kicking off the hour:

After about a half an hour or so of mingling, we made a huge circle and started sharing our WINS for the week! Since it was a free day, we had many new faces as well as several new members who recently joined, around the circle! It was great to see the new faces chatting and getting to know everyone!

WorkBar’s WIN this week was very exciting; for the first time since we opened our doors in 2009, we are starting off the month of August with over 100 members – 111 to be exact! What’s even more exciting is that after sharing our win, one of the people who came in for the free day shared that they were going to join WorkBar on Monday, therefore making our number 112! WINNING!

This was also our first Happy Hour with our new kegerator in place! Pouring delicious Sam Summer and Rapscallion with a side of wine for our Wine-Os ;]

Remember Mack Daddy Hal from last week? Here he is again with the Torch team and Evona grabbing a round of drinks!

Oh that HAL! Just can’t stay away from the party!

A bitter sweet WorkBar Wins this week as we say goodbye to our member Jeff. Jeff came to Boston for the month of July for a bit of adventure and joined WorkBar as soon as he came to town. Jeff immediately embraced the member community, in fact, his first day as a member, he joined the team on our WorkBar Sail, which was a blast! We got to hang out with Jeff daily and he definitely added a lot to the community spirit here!

We’ll miss you Jeff, come back and visit us soon!

And our winners? If you’ve been to one of our WorkBar Wins in the past, you know we have a VERY strict voting process! Juuuust kidding, what fun would that be? This weeks WIN winners include TRAACKR, Larry and Jackie! Our Winning Bunch:

See you at our next WINS on Aug 19th, 2011

WorkBar Wins – The Mac Daddy! 7.15.2011

Another successful WorkBar Wins to finish up the first half of July! This time we situated ourselves in the middle of the main space around the large worktable!~ The space worked out perfectly with everyone gathered around! As per usual we had some chatter to start off our happy hour and around 5:00PM we started our WINS!

We had about a 50/50 split between funny and new business shares – always a nice mix!

Here is the Torch Team with their share for the week! The story goes; Torch’s fearless Boston leader Hal had been out of the office traveling for most of the week this week and last. To raise morale and FINALLY bring the team back together, Sam and Mike made a huge “We Missed You Mack Daddy!” sign outside of the elevator so it would be the first thing Hal saw when he came into the office that day! In addition, they added this clever & photoshop’d picture of Hal’s mug on a juicy cheeseburger! The MacDaddy himself!

After our in-person WINS!, Bill read a couple WINS! submitted to the WorkBar Social Group online earlier that day from members that could not attend the WINS! Happy Hour. Great work Khadija from BetterBio and Ben from Antiques Near Me!

After some clap-O-meter metrics and individual nominations, we had our WINS! Winners!:

From left to right:

Congrats Mike Rheaume from SnapKnot on breakthrough traffic numbers! Nick Taylor, from BrightHub on your media success after the underground Red Line evacuation [he caught all the action on his iphone!]! And last but certainly not least, Heather for breaking out and starting her own venture!

WINNING!

After our WINS!, we stuck around and enjoyed a few more brews before heading over to Kingston Station for some dinner!

CHEERS!

Join us for our next WorkBar WINS! July 29th at 4:30PM! July 29th is also our Open Work Day which means you can come in anytime 9:00AM-6:00PM and try out our workspace – free! We have wifi, coffee, workspace, meeting & conference rooms and a great community of members to work amongst. Hope to see you then!

WorkBar Wins 6/17/2011

Another successful week wraps up at WorkBar with our WorkBar Wins Happy Hour Series! In addition to our regular WorkBar community members, we were joined by our free work day guests trying out the workspace and by a few brand new members as of that very day!

As usual we started out with some freestyle mingling, drinks for those who wanted them. Afterward we all sat around the cafe and shared our week’s wins – it’s interesting to hear about everyone’s wins; some personal and some professional.

Some of the personal wins included a break breaking week of running and overcoming personality differences in order to communicated with a diverse group of students. A few of the companies had hiring wins for the week – creating jobs, hiring and expanding their businesses – Always good news for everyone!

OUR WIN WINNERS:

From left to right we have:

Jason Oberholtzer from INK Communications and co-creator of I Love Charts WON by joining the INK team at WorkBar this week!

Bill Jacobson from WorkBar WON when he spotted Chara holding the Stanley Cup in the North End this week – back from the big win! His professional win included meeting with the guys from Rapscallion Brewery and High and Mighty Beer. Good news – look for both on tap at the next WorkBar Wins Happy Hour!

Sean Smith from Invested Development WON with his tale of entrepreneurship in the most unexpected places! Stop in and he’ll tell you the tale himself!

“Built in Boston” Local Artwork by Art Venue at WorkBar

Art Venue a fantastic new company based out of Boston is connecting local artists with local venues such as cafe’s, store fronts, and even office spaces like ourselves! Their first installation here at WorkBar, entitled “Built in Boston” features the artistic works of Ryan DiCicco, Tobias Hathorn, and DS Mangus and launched in May 2011! Read up on the artists here.

Art Venue takes an interactive approach to their artwork displays by tagging each piece with a QR code linking the browsing crowd to a page where they can get information about the artwork, the artist and buy the piece on the spot! Outside of the Opening Artist Reception we’ve had several WorkBar members engage with the pieces in a game-like fashion which is one the interesting components of the Art Venue business model.

As a business that houses many local businesses ourselves within our workspace, it’s a priority of ours to support the local community at large and on all levels both inside and outside of our space – which is why we are excited to work with Art Venue and display creative talent!

Art Venue – How is works:

To celebrate the new installation and Art Venue’s Boston launch we held an Opening Artist’s Reception on Thursday, June 2nd at WorkBar! Fully equipped with a DJ BONZ spinning, True-Event audio, High & Mighty Beer, and the artists themselves, the event was a HUGE success!

This was the first social event we held in our space since our expansion and it was a hit! Here are some highlights:
